Anxious to raise my product sales, I went ahead and got started on Twitter marketing to create a huge list of followers hoping to turn them into purchasers. I ended up purchasing and joining programs that would get me followers and programs that would actually promote my products for me. By the time I’d finished, I’d spent money on something like eight programs to perform some of the grunt work involved in Twitter marketing. I purchased a tool that would automatically follow people for me in an attempt to get them to follow me back. And then there was the Twitter marketing tool that would un-follow people who were not following me. Deleting non-followers meant I could focus on other people who might be persuaded to follow me. Amongst other Twitter marketing tools I got hold of, there was one tool which automatically tweeted a blog post just as soon as it was posted to my blog. And when I started using all of these programs the results seemed to be amazing as they all did exactly what they said they would do. I was quickly brought down to earth when I checked my spreadsheet and saw that I wasn’t actually pulling in any money! I would post to my blog 10 times each day and those blog posts would be displayed directly on Twitter just like they are supposed to. Then I discovered a way to have all the blog posts done for me automatically, hoping that the more posts I would have the more folks who would see them. So permit me to share with you my results. In three years, I was able to gain a Twitter following of almost 10,000 people. I bet you think this is an impressive number, but I’m not done yet: Also in the past three years I have had at least fifteen thousand of my blog posts that were advertising affiliate products posted to my Twitter account. Other than that, I did no extra promotion for that blog, in fact I didn’t even ping the new blog entries to discover how good Twitter was could be. With only 2 – 4 visits per day coming from Twitter, perhaps this is not surprising. In a nutshell, having approximately ten thousand followers on Twitter using all these Twitter marketing tools will not give you the results you desire. At the end of the day I’m now out of money for the Twitter software tools I paid for because my dollar return was so dismal. Lastly, I cannot personally recommend using automatic software tools as a financially viable means of advertising on Twitter.
